This event concerns the conference affiliation of the team that wins the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship for the specified season. 

A team does not need to win its conference tournament or regular-season conference championship to qualify. Conference affiliation means the team's men's basketball conference as recognized by the NCAA when the NCAA tournament begins. 

“Other” includes every participating team that is not a member of the Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), or Southeastern Conference (SEC), including any independent team. Subsequent conference membership changes do not change the team's classification for this event. 

If a national champion is declared, its conference category resolves Yes and the other five categories resolve No. If the competition is cancelled or no champion can be determined, the parent contract's cancellation and indeterminate-outcome provisions apply; “Other” is not a no-champion outcome.
