The Senate Republican Conference elects John Thune as its leader when it chooses him to lead the conference for the 120th Congress, whether the post is styled Republican Leader or Minority Leader, and whether by ballot, voice vote or acclamation. The conference's leadership election is scheduled for Nov 10, 2026.

The following do NOT count:
An election held on or after Nov 11, 2026, including after a postponement
Election to any other conference post, such as whip
A report before the election that John Thune is expected to win, is unopposed or has the votes
